Santa Ana Burglary Suspect

SANTA ANA (CNS) – A man broke into an apartment in Santa Ana, then tried
to hide in a crawl space at a 7-Eleven, but he fell through the ceiling and
was arrested, police said.
Officers were dispatched around 11 p.m. Thursday to the 2700 block of
West McFadden Avenue after a resident reported seeing a man breaking into
apartments, said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Matt Brown.
The man fled before officers rolled up, but a short time later police
received a call from a nearby 7-Eleven regarding an intruder who had run inside
the store and was hiding in the store’s break room, Brown said.
Officers forced open the door of the break room and discovered the man
had escaped by crawling up into the ceiling, but a short time later he came
crashing down onto a store aisle, police said. He didn’t suffer any serious
injuries in the fall and was taken into custody, Brown said.
Police were able to confirm the man broke into one of the apartment
units but it wasn’t immediately clear if anything was taken, Brown said, and no
one was believed to be inside at the time of the break-in.
