Rancho Cucamonga Burglary Shootout


FROM RANCHO CUCAMONGA PD PRESS RELEASE – On September 3, 2017, at 12:41 a.m., Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call from a resident of Rancho Cucamonga at the 11600 block of Brindisi Way. The homeowner reportedly arrived home and found the front door of his house open. As he approached the door, he was fired upon by an unknown suspect inside the house. The homeowner retrieved a gun from his vehicle and engaged the suspect back at the front door, firing his weapon inside the residence. After hearing movement inside the house, the homeowner retreated and called police.

Deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department arrived and set up a perimeter. Believing the suspect may have been barricaded inside the residence, Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) responded to the scene. They made announcements with a loudspeaker to have the suspect come out. After no response, SED personnel cleared the residence with the assistance of a robot.

After the residence was cleared, personnel from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department began investigating and processing the scene. After some investigation, it was determined the homeowner interrupted a burglary that was in progress. The investigation is still on-going at this time. (Detective R. Whiteside, 909-477-2800)

The incident terminated at about 6:00 a.m. and detectives are still on scene as of 7:30 a.m. The suspect’s identity is unknown and remains at large. Rancho Cucamonga Police Department is handling the investigation.
