LAKE ELSINORE (CNS) – Authorities Thursday were investigating an officer- involved shooting in Lake Elsinore whose outcome was not immediately detailed. The shooting came at the end of a police pursuit that began around 9 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Indian Truck Trail and the southbound Interstate 15, where deputies were called to assist the California Highway patrol, said a Riverside County Sheriff’s watch commander. A sheriff’s spokesman confirmed Wednesday night via Twitter that an officer-involved shooting occurred near the intersection of Villa Roma and Villa Milano but did not say if anyone was injured or killed. The public was further advised to stay away from the area. The Riverside County Fire Department’s active incidents page indicated paramedics were dispatched to Villa Milano, the Press Enterprise reported. CHP Temecula spokesman Officer Mike Lassig confirmed that the Sheriff’s SWAT team had been dispatched to deal with a situation in the aftermath of a pursuit, the newspaper reported. The CHP reported the 15 was closed for an investigation from Indian Truck Trail to Bundy Canyon.
