Castaic Jail Double Stabbing

CASTAIC (CNS) – Three inmates suffered puncture wounds in a large racially motivated fight inside the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, authorities said Thursday.

The fight, pitting Hispanics against blacks, was reported at 9:52 p.m. Wednesday at 29320 The Old Road in a dorm containing 94 male inmates, said Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies used pepper spray to stop the fight, she said.

Three inmates were taken to hospitals for treatment of puncture wounds. Two of them were later released and one remained hospitalized but his injuries were not life-threatening, Schrader said.

During a search of the dorm, two shanks were recovered, Schrader said.

No deputies were hurt.  CNS-09-07-2017 05:02

At least two inmates were transported to the hospital Wednesday night from North County Correction Facility. It is unclear what led up to the double stabbing that was reported just before 10:00pm. Both stabbing victims were transported to Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital.
